It is
amazing to watch as the world turns around us, the simple things in life that
we miss. We have become so wrapped up into what we think we want, and the
thought of being the person our peers want us to be, that we have misplaced our
love for God.
Working in the
children's program throughout this past summer, I became astonished to find
that very few children know why we pray, or how to pray anything other than a
scripted meal or bedtime prayer. You are thinking, they’re kids, they’ll be ok.
Do kids not grow? Are they learning anything about prayer at home? Will they
not learn from listening in the sanctuary?
I know there is no
other place in this world that has this problem! Or so we wished to believe. I
understand we are busy, with our daily lives, our jobs, our children, and our
church events, but let's look for a minute at what we might be missing.
The
children in our world today are tossed from here to there. They have multiple
distractions facing them every day, peer pressure, drugs,
sexual immorality, broken homes, abusive parents, loneliness, depression,
and the list continues to grow. These children need God, and God needs
you.
I believe, our
responsibility as a Christian, should be based on the His Word;
Matthew
28: 19 says to "GO" and make disciples of all nations.
The keyword, I
believe, is "GO". We have made excuse after excuse for why we cannot
do anything, but we have forgotten, who our leader is, none other than Jesus
Christ. He said He will be with us always!
Let me recommend,
start with a simple prayer, asking for His guidance, His strength, and His
direction for your life, and begin there. Do not mistake the post, this is not
just about kids, although my heart goes out to each of them, it is about
reaching those that need Christ in their lives. It is a simple procedure, if you
reach the kids, you can reach their parents, or if you reach the parents, you
can reach the kids.
This is a win/win
situation for everyone except our adversary. The parents win, the kids win, the
church wins, you win, and God receives all the Glory He is due.
God Bless you, and
"GO"
